Jo-Kell Receives Certificate of Appreciation from Stand Up For Kids, February 9, 2010
Jo-Kell was first introduced to Stand Up For Kids when they sponsored the local charity during their annual Christmas contest. Since then, the employees of Jo-Kell have donated a meal once a month to the organization which reaches out to runaways, homeless and at-risk teens through the age of twenty one.  The safe haven, known as "The Crow's Nest" is located on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront and is run by Stand Up For Kids and their partners, Seton House.

Jo-Kell "Frost Stars" Plunge for Two Great Reasons Feb 9, 2010
The snow and freezing temperatures didn't stop the Jo-Kell "Frost Stars from plunging into the frigid waters of the Atlantic for the 18th Annual Polar Plunge at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.  Not only did the Jo-Kell team plunge to support the Special Olympics of Virginia, but they wore their Pittsburg Steeler's jerseys in honor of their good friend and co-worker, Seth Howard who recently passed away and was a huge Steeler's fan and Polar Plunger!  Jo-Kell raised a record amount of thirty eight hundred dollars!

Jo-Kell CEO Joins Governor Bob McDonell in Support of Foodbank Jan 11, 2010
Jo-Kell CEO, Suzy Kelly along with COO Adrian Marchi joined Governor Bob McDonnell at the Southeastern Foodbank on January 11, 2010. The Governor made several stops while in Hampton Roads including the Foodbank.  Volunteers wearing "I'm Feeding America" T-shirts, filled oversized bags with cans of beef stew, Fig Newtons, chocolate milk and snack pudding. The struggling economy triggered a huge rise in the number of people relying on charity to keep from going hungry.

St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children "Tribute to Elvis" Benefit November 21, 2009
Jo-Kell sponsored the 2nd annual "Tribute to Elvis" benefit featuring Sterling Riggs and the TKC Band.  Proceeds from the benefit went to St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children. The benefit, which was held at River Oak Church in Chesapeake raised $1500 for St. Mary's!

Mayflower Marathon Food Donation Drop-Off November 20, 2009
Jo-Kell delivered 5072 pounds of food to the Mayflower Marathon food drop-off sponsored by 106.9 the FOX radio station.  Jo-Kell CEO, Suzy Kelly had an opportunity to talk to the morning dj's about   Jo-Kell's food drive which started on October 1st and ran through November 10th.  Employees collected two and a half tons of food for the Southeastern Foodbank!

Employee Appreciation Day 2009 (In Memory of our Friend Seth Howard)
On November 4th, Jo-Kell lost a beloved friend and co-worker, Seth Howard.  In appreciation and remembrance of him, we dedicated our "Employee Appreciation" day to his memory.  Seth was a great Steelers fan and an even better Jo-Kell friend.

McGruff Night Out October 22, 2009
Jo-Kell employees helped take a bite out of crime by cooking hamburgers and hotdogs for the kids at the annual "Kids Night Out" that was held at the South Norfolk Community Center.  The kids wore their favorite costunes, played games and of course got to meet McGruff!

Customer Appreciation Cookout October 21, 2009
As a special thank you to all of our customers, Jo-Kell hosted a "fall" themed cookout.  There were plenty of dogs and burgers to go around.  Each guest received a Jo-Kell beer mug to show our appreciation.  A raffle was also held and several lucky customers went home with Jo-Kell sweatshirts, candy and even pumpkins!.

St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children's 5K Run October 3, 2009
Jo-Kell employees participated in St. Mary's 21st Annual 5K Run and Fun Run. Twenty Jo-Kell employees and their families helped to raise money for St. Mary's!  The race was held at Fort Story military base in Virginia Beach.

Propeller Club Invitational Golf Tournament August 21, 2009
Jo-Kell sponsored a beverage tent at the 15th Annual Propeller Club's Annual Invitational Golf Tournament held at the Nanesmond River Golf Club in Suffolk. This year, our tent was decorated to honor the brave men and women in our military. Our famous "Electric Lemonade' was a bit hit again!  While golfers were enjoying a refreshing drink,  they could take the Jo-Kell "hole in one" challenge.  If you managed to get a "hole in one" by maneuvering past the tanks and soldiers, you won a Jo-Kell "Task Force" T-shirt!.  All golfers received a Jo-Kell "Task Force" hat!

Jo-Kell Donates Shore Power Unit to Help Restore Historic Vessel June, 2009
Jo-Kell donated a shore power interface unit to the Zuni Maritime Foundation for the restoration of the U.S.S. Zuni ATF-95.  The Zuni Maritime Foundation has acquired the decommissioned World World II salvage tug which towed warships all over the South Pacific during the war. Jo-Kell designed and assembled the shore power unit that will enable the Zuni to run on full power while pier side without having to use a generator.  This will save diesel fuel as well as help the environment by limiting pollution.

Friends of Chesapeake Animal Services Rummage Sale June 27, 2009
Jo-Kell employees raised $1,131 for the Friends of Chesapeake Animal Services at their 1st Annual Rummage sale held at Jo-Kell's home office in Chesapeake. There were plenty of items on hand and people could also purchase animal licenses as well as personalized dog biscuits for their pets!

Jo-Kell 9th Annual Golf Invitational June 2009
This year's invitational took place on June 11th at Cahoon Plantation Golf Club. There were approximately 100 participants including our customers and vendors who helped to make this year's event another success!  Jo-Kell's CEO, Suzy Kelly was ready to drive for players unless they wanted to offer a "bribe".  The money raised all went to St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children.  Needless to say, a lot of money was raised for the cause!  Mulligans were also sold to benefit St. Mary's.  Everyone had a great time and St. Mary's representatives were on hand for the dinner and awards ceremony.

Chesapeake Jubilee 2009
We're cooking again!  The police, sheriff and fire departments were able to come by and grab a quick dog and burger on their breaks while working the Chesapeake Jubilee.  Jo-Kell employees cooked all three days of the Jubilee for the city's finest!

Jo-Kell once again had the honor of serving up hotdogs and hamburgers for our cities finest who worked the Jubilee!
