Jo-Kell Presents Food Donation and Funds to Local Charities

Chesapeake, VA (December 19, 2013) –Thousands of Hampton Roads residents received a much-appreciated warm meal, and many severely disabled children received quality, specialized care, thanks to local small business Jo-Kell, Inc.  The company collects food and monetary donations from employees during their annual drive, located at their facility in Chesapeake.

Jo-Kell and its employees raised over $14,000 for St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children to help offset the cost of offering respiratory care that has been in strong demand in the recent years.  The company matched the monetary donations of their employees from the drive.

The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia was also a recipient of Jo-Kell’s goodwill.  Employees collected nearly 6,000 pounds of food, which provided approximately 3,000 meals in the local community.  Debbie Mergi, Community Events Manager of The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia was present at the annual Mayflower Marathon to receive the donation.

Additionally, Jo-Kell employees in the Jacksonville, Florida facility collected over 1,400 pounds of food for their local foodbank.

“Even in these tough economic times, our employees are generous in their giving to others”, explains Jo-Kell CEO, Suzy Kelly.  “Each year, employees look forward to the food and money drive so they can support two of their favorite charities, St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children and our local Foodbank.”

The annual, month-long food and fund drive began October 1, 2013 and concluded with an all day employee appreciation celebration on November 11, 2013, hosted by owners, Suzy and Marty Kelly, to show gratitude and recognition for all contributions not only for the past month, but throughout the year.
