Jo-Kell Employees Present Food Donation and Money to Local Charities

Chesapeake, VA (February 23, 2010) – Employees of Jo-Kell Inc., a local electrical distribution and engineering Company, presented two local charities with donations collected during their annual food donation and money drive at their facility Monday, December 21st.

Present from St. Mary’s were CFO, Wayne Jones; Director of Development, Martha Stewart and Director of Annual Giving, Mary Helen Hilton. Present from the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia was CFO, Karen Joyner and CDO, Marianne Smith. Jo-Kell Employees presented St. Mary’s with a check for over $6,000 (which included proceeds from a company sponsored “Tribute to Elvis” benefit concert held for St. Mary’s on November, 21st.

The company matched the monetary donations of their 47 employees from the money drive. The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia was present to receive all food collected by employees. This year, Jo-Kell employees donated 5,072 pounds of food. The donated food provided over 3,381 meals in the community.

“Even in these tough economic times, our employees are generous in their giving to others.” said Jo-Kell’s CEO, Suzy Kelly. “Each year, employees look forward to the food and money drive so they can support two of their favorite charities; St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children and our local food bank,” Kelly added. St. Mary’s is the only pediatric long-term care residential facility of its kind in Virginia for children with severe disabilities.
