Jo-Kell had 6 participants in the XIII Annual Polar Plunge Winter Festival on February 5, 2005 at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Jo-Kell has particpated in this event for the past four years now and has raised close to $4,000 benefiting the Special Olympics of Virginia.

This year more than 2,800 overall plungers participated in this event and raised over $465,000. Since 1993 more than $1.5 million has been raised for Special Olympics Virginia, with over 11,000 people taking the plunge into the Atlantic Ocean.

The Polar Plunge event, which was presented by Cox Communications and The Fox 106.9 FM, benefited Special Olympics Virginia, the state program of Special Olympics Incorporated, which provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for more than 14,000 children and adults with mental disabilities at no costs to the athletes or their families.
