Season of Giving Back

During this Holiday season Jo-Kell employees, business partners, and our customers raised funds, food, and awareness for local charities. We continued our tradition in helping one of our area’s most important charitable organizations – St. Mary’s Home. Including matching funds from the company, Jo-Kell presented a check for over $14,000 to St. Mary’s Home to support their mission of helping young people with severe disabilities.

Our annual food drive at our Chesapeake and Jacksonville locations was once again a huge success. Chesapeake employees donated 7,305 pounds of food to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. The Jacksonville team donated 3,661 pounds of food to the Mandarin Food Bank and made a $840 donation to the The Divine Mercy House in Florida.

Jo-Kell also donated $500 to a local charity in the Hampton Roads called Mutts With A Mission. Mutts with a Mission is a non-profit organization that trains veterans and Wounded Warriors and their dogs as Service Dog teams in order to return the independence our great Veterans sacrificed while serving our country. Founder Brook Corson stopped by our corporate offices with a service dog in training to educate our employees on what the organization is all about. Fully-trained service dogs are valued at about $40,000.00 and are given to the servicemen for free.

“When people come to work at Jo-Kell, there’s more behind them than just doing a good job … like helping others. They are good people and a joy to work with. This is a joyful place,” Suzy Kelly, CEO.
