Jo-Kell Announces Loss of Company Founder
Chesapeake, VA (April 2, 2012) – Jo-Kell Inc., a local electrical distribution and engineering company based in Chesapeake, Virginia, announced the loss of company founder, Joseph Arthur Kelly, on Friday, March 16, 2012.
Kelly, who was 82, was a native of Brooklyn, New York and founded Jo-Kell Inc. in 1977 with a card table in his garage. He would find hard-to-find items that no one else could. Kelly retired in 2002, and was succeeded by Marty and Suzy Kelly, his son and daughter-in-law. The company’s main business throughout the last thirty seven years, has been the Navy. Today it makes up seventy percent of Jo-Kell’s business and has branches in Jacksonville, Fl and Richmond, Va.
“Joe was not only the company founder and family member; he was a dear friend to all of us at Jo-Kell,” said Jo-Kell’s CEO Suzy Kelly. “ . He will be truly missed by us all,” Kelly added.
A memorial service for Kelly was held at Graham Funeral Home in Chesapeake, Virginia on March 20th.
