Jo-Kell Celebrates Navy Talent Pipeline Program “Signing Day”
On June 10th, Jo-Kell proudly participated in the U.S. Navy Talent Pipeline Program (TPP)’s third annual “Signing Day” Ceremony, held at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel. The event honored 73 defense employers from Virginia and the Carolinas who have collectively hired over 1,700 workers into mission-critical careers supporting our nation’s Defense Industrial Base.
Jo-Kell was well represented at the event by COO Kristin Parkinson, Director of HR Scott Johnson, and new hires Caitlin Hart and Tony Perez - demonstrating our ongoing commitment to developing and supporting the future of the defense workforce.
This powerful gathering brought together industry leaders, training partners, and U.S. Navy officials to celebrate the individuals powering our defense capabilities. Keynote speaker Justin Meyer, Executive Director, Program Executive Office Aircraft Carriers, emphasized the critical importance of uniting skilled workers with mission-driven employers during such a pivotal time for national security.
Hanna Williamson, a welder at Automated Machine & Technology and an Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) graduate, was the new hire guest speaker, and she inspired the room with her heartfelt story about pursuing a career in the trades and her pride in contributing to the strength of the country. “I’m a modern-day Rosie the Riveter,” she said - an emblematic reminder of the spirit behind the work we do.
Captain Nick Levine, Program Manager for In-Service Attack Submarines, praised the program’s impact: “The gear we take to sea operates correctly the first time because of the quality and dedication of your organizations.”
Jo-Kell is honored to be a part of this vital initiative and committed to supporting a resilient, skilled workforce that keeps our national defense mission moving forward.
